Kristin Bustamante

With a marketing degree in hand but no desire to do the “salesy” stuff, Kristin Bustamante began pursuing a career in the publishing world with clients as diverse as a global technology company and a local startup magazine. Between all the opportunities that led her here, she met the perfect guy and made two perfect (depending on the day) children. She also honed her skills as a mad crafter and DIYer, schooling other Pinterest-prowlers on how to make something cuter, easier, and cheaper. She’s also the only person she knows—besides her mother and grandmother—who still owns and operates a sewing machine.

After spending a couple years writing marketing copy for the riveting world of technology, Kristin made the leap of faith to become a full-time freelance editor and writer. During that time, she worked with outlets such as Arizona Parenting, Houston Family MagazineArizona Bride, Weddings in Houston, Insight, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Next up, tackling the online media world as a senior editor and eventually editorial director for SheKnows.com, one of the largest women’s lifestyle sites on the web. In her time at SheKnows, Kristin oversaw the brand’s ever-expanding portfolio of women’s and lifestyle websites and focused heavily on brand integrations across the sites. She had the privilege of working with a world-class team of editors, one who just happened to be Crystal Patriarche, founder of SparkPoint Studio.

Fast forward four years and Kristin is now the Chief Content Officer for SparkPoint Studio, overseeing a growing catalog of authors, titles, and writing and editing content for the company’s new imprint, SparkPress. Above all else, Kristin loves creativity and creating real, relevant content.
